That astonishing footage taken of a trip through NYC in 1911 by Swedish Company Svenska Biografteatern has been fully restored in 4K — and in color!
The jerky movement of old-timey film was not a problem, because the source footage was intact, but the addition of color and shadow creates a far more naturalistic look at life in NYC over 100 years ago.
Eerie to have such a crystal-clear portal to the past, to a time when only about 300-450 people on Earth today would have been alive. (Based on estimates that that number of supercentenarians, those 110+, are alive at any given time.)
