‘Sex Bomb’ Tom Jones: #MeToo

What's new, pussycat? Certainly not sexual abuse.

Sexual harassment, coercion and rape have long been a part of the film industry, even spawning the cutesy phrase "the casting couch" that suddenly feels completely antiquated in light of the #MeToo movement, which has women coming forth about abuse they've suffered.

In light of the allegations made against film mogul Harvey Weinstein, scores of famous women have begun to relate stories of abuse ... but while it is more likely to plague women in and out of entertainment, it does happen to men as well.

"Sex Bomb" singer Tom Jones, who has notched dozens of hit singles since his first album was released in 1965, has long been considered a musical sex symbol. Now, he has opened up to the BBC, relating a time when he was hit on "once" early in his career by someone in a position of power — and it made him feel "terrible."

Jones, 77, said:

... you think, "Well, I've gotta get away from this person. This is not — it can't be like this." ... What's tried on women is tried on men as well ... Things have always happened in the music industry as well ... There's always been that element there, that people with power sometimes abuse it.
