Steven Bochco, Creator of ‘Hill Street Blues,’ ‘NYPD Blue,’ Dies @ 74

Steven Bochco, prolific TV producer of some of the mediums most beloved police shows and drama, died Sunday, April 1, at 74, ExtraTV reports.

Bochco died following a long battle with leukemia.

Bochco took home 10 Emmys and four Peabody Awards for his series, which included the classics Hill Street Blues (1981-1987), L.A. Law (1986-1994), Doogie Howser, M.D. (1989-1993), and NYPD Blue (1993-2005), among others.

The producer was inducted into the Television Hall of Fame 22 years ago.

Bochco was married three times, including to Hill Street Blues regular Barbara Bosson (b. 1939) from 1970-1997. He is survived by his wife Dayna Kalins, his two children with Bosson, and his older sister, actress Joanna Frank (b. 1941).
