Prolific TV Actor & Host Chuck McCann Dies @ 83

Chuck McCann famous for his voice-over work, for his work as a children's TV host, and for his many roles on TV and in some films, has died, THR reports. He was 83.

McCann died Sunday, April 8, at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in L.A. of congestive heart failure.

McCann had a lovably goofy persona that made him a natural as a TV pitchman, most prominently for Right Guard throughout the' 70s.

He was known for impersonating Oliver Hardy (1892-1957) and also co-founded the Laurel & Hardy appreciation fan club, Sons of the Desert.

McCann's career began in the '50s on TV, the medium that embraced him most wholeheartedly.

Among his most memorable films were The Heart Is a Lonely Hunter (1968), The Projectionist (1971), Play It as It Lays (1972), Foul Play (1978) and Ladybugs (1992).

He is survived by his wife of 40 years and three children from a previous marriage.y
