Jim Fowler, the 6'6", rugged zoologist who worked with host Marlin Perkins (1905-1986) on Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom (1963-1987), died Wednesday at his Norwalk, Connecticut, home. He was 89.

THR confirmed the death with Fowler's family.
Fowler, who was also a popular guest on The Tonight Show during the Johnny Carson (1925-2005) era more than 100 times, was an Emmy winner who appeared on such programs as Today and many other talk shows.
Fowler was so ubiquitous on the talk-show circuit he appeared on 1997 episode of Seinfeld in which Kramer used the old Mike Douglas Show set to create his own talk show — without the benefits of TV cameras.
Fowler also hosted a later incarnation of Wild Kingdom in the 2000s.
Fowler is survived by his wife and two children.
