FOX8: Wally Funk, at 82, became the oldest person in space when she joined Blue Origin's 11-minute mission on July 20, along with CEO — and soon-to-be-trillionaire Jeff Bezos. In so doing, she bested the record set by the late John Glenn, who at 77 went into space on Discovery in 1998. Glenn also spoke out against Funk being allowed into the astronaut program decades ago because she was a woman — even though she was actually more qualified than he was, according to test scores. Must be a sweet day for her.
