In so doing, she bested the record set by the late John Glenn, who at 77 went into space on Discovery in 1998. Glenn also spoke out against Funk being allowed into the astronaut program decades ago because she was a woman — even though she was actually more qualified than he was, according to test scores. Must be a sweet day for her.
