Let’s Talk About ‘6’: New Book on ‘Surfside 6’ Comes Ashore!

Michael Gregg Michaud — author of the acclaimed Sal Mineo — has returned with his latest nostalgic and exhaustively complete book, Surfside 6: In Miami Beach (BearManor Media, $30).

Devoted to the late, great series Surfside 6 (1960-1962), the book contains episodic sketches, bios of the stars (Troy Donahue, Van Williams, Lee Patterson, Margarita Sierra and Diane McBain) and many of the guest stars and almost more behind-the-scenes dish than fans of classic TV can handle.

This isn't some cut-and-paste job, it's a deep dive into the pleasingly shallow series, one that even includes info on people like the music department, the hair and makeup guys and more.

Perhaps best of all, the book has 100 photos you'd never find Googling.

Michaud, a friend, is specially equipped to write this book, having also written with McBain her compelling 2014 memoir Famous Enough.

Even if you're like me and know next to nothing about the series, this book will suck you in if you're a fan of vintage TV.

Surfside 6 belongs in any TV buff's library.
